I chose Architecture because it's really interesting when people take pictures of buildings that are all different. You can't find a building the same size and same design. I picked the artist Corinne Vionnet to study. Here are some of the pictures she has made.
- Most of theses pictures are made by a slow Sutter camera this is then It takes longer to take the picture so you can move the camera around a bit so the picture will be blurry
Corinne Vionnet likes travelling around the world and she thought everyone makes the Ames pictures so she fault she should change what she dose and make it different Vionnet finds most of her pictures on line she finds 100s of the same picture and emerge them together and thats how she makes her pictures. before Vionnet became a photography she was an professional ice dancer and made her more of that and marketing, But in 2005 she knew that she wanted to be a photography Vionnet taught her self about photography.
Analysing a photograph
I have chosen to analyse a photograph by Lucien Herve. There are some things I find strange about the picture. One of them is a shadow on the wall of a person. Firstly, I thought about where the person could be and then I looked at the picture in more detail and I discovered that they could be on top of the dark structure on the right of the building. The black and white goes well will the picture Also, it looks more appalling in black and white if the artist put it in colour it would be as good. When the Herve took the picture was there a purpose of the picture or did Herve just take some people and this one was successful or was it all set up.

Herve must be really good a timing, because if it was set up for the shadow on the wall you need the sun to be in a perfect position to get a shadow like that. There are some questions I would like to ask Herve, In the picture do people know each other or is it just random people who the artist knew, there are two people one the roof they are looking down at something what are they looking at and was they up there for a reason. Everyone I can see in the picture looks really happy but the shadow you on the wall looks really depressed when everyone else looks happy. Why is the person out of site and standing on the roof? On the wall there are all different picture in frames are they for a reason or did Herve put them there because she thought it would look good.
Architecture questions:
- What is architecture?
- Why are photographers interested in photography what makes buildings photography?
- Why am I interested in architecture?
- How do I use buildings?
- What types of buildings are photographed the most?
- Can I make architecture in order to photographed the most?
- Can a photograph be 3 dimensions like a building?
Candida Hofer
I was looking though some picture of architecture and i found Candida Hofer. I picked this person because her pictures she taking are really interesting at nice to look at here are some of her pictures.
One of the things that I find weird about 2 of the pictures is that they look the same on both of the sides of the picture. The perspective makes the picture appear to be mirrored. This looks like an illusion but is to do with the design of the building. The photographer would have had to place the camera very carefully to make images like this.

Bas Jan Ader research
Bad Jan Ader is a Dutch artist and during the first couple of years of Aders life he moved to America. One of famous works, i'm too sad to tell you, consists of a 3 minute silent black-and-white movies of him crying.

Holiday work
Explain what you were planning to do with these images...?
The picture here i took are when i went in to London i took most of these picture because they look really interesting all the unique for example The picture of the shard is unique because the top of the building looks like a bit of glass broken and really shattered and put back together
The quote i chose is from a photographer called Gary Winogrand the quote is “Photography is not about the thing photographed. It is about how that thing looks photographed.” I chose this quote because I think it relates to architecture because it shows how buildings can look different in photos then in real life.
Diptychs and Triptychs
Explain what these are here...
My diptychI have chosen two photographs that look good together as a diptych. They are similar because they are subjects out in the open. They are also photographed at an unusual angle. This creates a strong diagonal from corner to corner in both pictures. They are also similar because they both show repeated lines - the grass against the sand and the edges of the steps.
These pictures relate to the theme Architecture in an imaginative way because the grass isn't a building but it still has a structure almost like scaffolding poles or the pattern of bricks. The steps are also not really part of a building. You can't live in a set of steps. But, they change the way we move through space, making us rise or fall. They are also made abstract by the reflections of the water. I am going to think about all the ways in which the word 'Architecture' can be imagined from now on, rather than just thinking about buildings. |
My triptych
I chosen theses 3 pictures that would look good as a triptych. They are similar because all the buildings look slanted. Also another similarity
I took these picture because it looks interesting when places are empty, The photograph that inspired me is Candida Hofer because she takes pictures in empty rooms and they look interesting because they look reflected.
I was thinking that all architecture is not related to building, so i thought i would print out some of my pictures, and then print them on to differnt coulor card and change the picture coulor as well. After i printed them out i spayed glued them on to card and waited for them to dry, Then after i cut them out and put slots in the card so it can put then togther after in stanges ways.
I carried on from the card structure, Instead of using card with picture on it i used peaces of wood to make weird structure. I got different shapes of wood and placed them in front of a black back drop and placed them in strange places and got close to the wood and took picture in all different angels.
I thought i should develop on my wood architecture sculptures, So instead of just using normal wood i painted the wood white and use a white back drop so i stared placing the wood down one by one and stared taking pictures of them, For example I put some of the picture in focus and the rest of the picture out of focus. I decided to do this because architecture is just not buildings it can be sculptures as well.
I was thinking to experiment with my photos and with photoshop so i put one photo as the background and then i copy and paste another picture on top of it and change all the modes on them to blend them in with each other.
